Morning

Jane woke up at 3 am! Then woke up Michael.  I don't think Michael ever got back to sleep and ended up in our bed.  Woke up George before 6.  Jane now crashed and the boys are watching tv.

Now michael's been awake forever and still can't eat or drink because he has his dental work at 7:15.

My friend is saying with us for 10 days with 2 of her kids.  My friend is serving as a locum tenens dr for our hospital.  So, it's been a little more exciting and tiring having them here.  But I think good lessons for everyone in learning to share our space.

Usually, they get along.

We're about halfway through the visit.

The wrath of Jane

She was supposed to stay in her bed.  When I asked her what to do she said, "no sceeming, no fussin, no yewwing."  That's, screaming fussing and yelling.

And then 2 minutes later she's fussing about Michael hitting her.

After many returns to the room she first stripped her bed so she could jump on it.  Than she emptied the shoe basket.  Then she cleared all the stuff off the dresser to the floor.  And finally, just for kicks, I'm sure, she pulled the blue bins out of the cabinet.  Thankfully we hadn't filled them all, yet.

Then she dumped the magazine rack in the living room.

In less than 2 minutes of nursing at 4:30, she's out.

This morning

I'm trying to clean because people are coming to clean the house.  So I have to pick up the clutter.  Ug.

Here are Jane and Michael.

George ate a full serving of oatmeal and the started to eat Jane's leftover bowl.  He would ask for kisses from me like this.

Usually with his lips more together but that bottom lip sticking up a little.

But then he comes in for a kiss like this:

Because Michael is going to head start in a few weeks, and due to a strange mix up back in January, he had to get caught up on some vaccines.

Here he is before, drumming on a cup.

"Turn it around!"

I don't know where he got this but he loves giggling and making this face while seeing himself.  He's not recalling laughing at himself, he's putting on a show.

Then the army of nurses came in.  4 nurses, 5 needles.  I made sure that I could hold him I stead of nurses.  So when the time came I laid across him for a hug.  He knew about shots a little from all the kid shows he's seen.  I reminded him it might sting and when it does he can go, "hoo-hoo-hoo!!"  He laughed at that then said, "ow ow hoo hoo hoo!"  But that wasn't the end, it was just the first 2.  Then round 2 came and I think it hurt a little more.  He cried out and did a little hoo hoo.  Then started saying, "I'm done I'm done."  But he had one last shot.  He almost took the nurses arm away from him.  I had to check, too, I thought they would do 4 sticks at once instead of 2-2-1.  But Michael got through it.  I think he sad something about a band aid, or I did.  But then we all made a big deal about his 5 band aids.  All the nurses were so happy about how well he did.  I had Michael high five all of them.  I didn't want him to think ill of them.  They were great, then one of them took him down the hall.  Other nurses out  in the hall commented on how well he did because his face wasn't red at all when he came out for stickers.  Even though he cried out with a couple shots I don't think he shed a single tear.

And after....

Five! Count 'em, 1-2-3-4-5!!!  There was 1 combo vaccine, so 6 vaccines in all!  Look at the smiles!!

And giggles.

August 12

Michael heard music on the radio this morning and said, "it's 'somewhere to get out of here!'"  He has only heard that song on the radio and identified it by the guitar riff at the beginning.

At home, Jane tried to take michael's temperature by sticking the thermometer in the back of his pants.  Seriously?!?!

Then they played with bubbles.

Passed out cold on the way to Payless for new fall shoes.  Michael got a free pair from his head start. The others got new sets, too, plus Jane got sandals for church. She eventually woke up enough to pick out what she wanted.

Then!!!!! I don't have pictures but we also got a free take and bake kit from papa Murphy's for Michael.  He made it at home, even put on the pepperoni.  He ate 3/4 of that pizza for dinner!!! Meat, sauce and everything!!!  In the past he has usually eaten only the dry crust or a few bites of cheese pizza.  Never pepperoni, nor this much.  Huge day for him.
