Christmas 2012

Last night I stuffed a pillow that I stitched on my own sewing machine.  This is such an accomplishment for me.  Not making pillows, but unboxing, uncovering and USING the sewing machine that I've had since before we were married (I'm pretty sure).  I'm so proud of my self, just for being at a point where I can use the machine!  A friend helped me make some pillow cases at her house and it gave me the confidence to open up my machine.

We've had a great Christmas, so far.  The Reiters came down with Granny Reiter.  Family lunch and visits on the 23rd.  Christmas Eve mass with Grands and Great Grand.  On the way home, we drove through some neighborhoods to view Christmas lights ("I love Chwismas lights." -Michael) and the BOYS fell asleep!

Today we opened a sweet haul of presents!!!  From Santa and family, alike, we are very blessed and happy.  Can't wait to continue the celebration, tomorrow, when we go to Houston for Daddy's birthday.

Wonderful strangers

Why is it on my worst days I end up talking to strange moms at the grocery store? This morning we went to a mom group at the church, came back, tried to have lunch, then "quiet time." I use quotes because its not always quiet. We were out of milk so I nursed Jane after nursing George and putting him in his crib. I just wanted them to all stay in their rooms so I could lay down for 10 minutes.

The doors kept opening. The screams kept happening. The doors kept opening. Jane hit me. Where's my pencil? Where's my bear? Bottle milk! Watch the tv!

No NO No No no NOOOOOOO! Here's your pencil, here's your bear, here's water, STAY in YOUR ROOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had to leave them before I punched through a wall. Thankfully the last time was Jane's last straw, too and she finally passed out on her bed giving me a precious 10 minutes or so by myself.

Another plus to the day was my mothers helper was coming!! Yay! So off to the store I go by myself! Whereupon I saw a mom with three kids who appeared close in age. I had to ask her how old they were. It was something like 7, 5 and 4. I told her mine were 1, 2 and 3. Immediately her face lit up and she said, "Oh, you're gonna Love it!!!!!" What a blessing!

She said more good things, we related about the "ya got your arms full" comments when I LITERALLY do have my arms full (two in the cart at Sams and sleeping Jane in my arms wondering where I put her, or two in the cart and a baby seat in my hands (FYI, these comments are NOT encouraging or helpful to the mom!!!!!!!)). She gave me two possible come backs to that comment.

She also encouraged me to just enjoy the good moments and ignore the rest. Even though that's hard. There will still be days where I nearly lose it with them, but to really cherish the sweet times. I'm sure I've heard it before in different ways, but somehow it hits a different chord when coming from someone who really knows what it's like.

She was so sweet, she hugged me and encouraged me and said she's so excited for me for all the good times I will have with them. She also said that even 6 months can make a huge difference, so just keep plugging along.

I drove home with renewed faith and thinking, "Thank you God, Thank you God, Thank you God for putting her in my path!"

Blog on hold for pictures

Apparently, I've reached the maximum capacity for photos that Google will let me blog for free.  We're investigating the option of printing past years of the blog into a book versus paying for more storage.   We'll probably do the book thing, then delete the photo posts.  As soon as it's done, we'll be able to post more pictures.  Sorry that in the meantime we won't be able to post pictures from Thanksgiving.

But maybe we'll still be able to post videos.  I'll work on that later in the week.

What a great day!!!

Happy Thanksgiving to all! We did a double family Thanksgiving and it worked!! We lunched with Reiters with Tacquard grandparents. The kids played.

Then we drove to North Richland Hills where all 4 remaining Dacy sisters had collected with their families. The families absent were Harvesons and Johnny offspring. What a great time! We walked in the door to the sound of cackling laughter and I thought, "oh ya, it's my family." We entered to the viewing of the "Tuesday-Friday" family holiday videos from 1985. Memories.

Michael immediately disappeared into a toy room with the boys. I, honestly, didn't see him for at least 30 minutes and when I did he was carrying a nerf rifle outside. He was so excited to be playing with new boys and new toys and the boys were NICE to him! They were so sweet! I asked him repeatedly if he wanted food. Finally, after over an hour, I had to go into the room where he was playing and say, "there's cake!" Three boys (including Michael) popped up. He scarfed down some blueberries, cake and a little chex mix. Actually left some cake on the plate! Begged for a water and when he got it, he was GONE again.

Jane became fast friends with her Mommy's cousins and her great Aunts. Particularly Aunt Jennifer. Sometimes she played with the boys, or at least disappeared into the boy rooms. Sometimes she played and visited with the women folk.

George? George was loved by all. It took a little to get used to the new loud people but it wasn't long before he was being passed around. "Oh so cute!" "Looks like Johnny!" He actually got a "good natured baby" kind of comment. He's a sweetie and played peek a boo with people.

We ate turkey and dessert, then ate more dessert and turkey! When we arrived at my clan the desserts were still out. We stayed until the leftovers were brought out for dinner. Yay! Second thanksgiving! I'm super stuffed with awesome food and my heart is filled with love. Pictures will be posted after we go home but I wanted to get these thoughts out now.

By the way, George went to bed with minimal fuss after being fed again. Jane nursed for a long time but is having trouble going down now. Wants to be held forever. Michael _wanted_ to go to bed! He played a little downstairs while I nursed Jane. But when he came up, he was ready to be changed into his pjs and get in the bed!

The cut.....the CUT!!!!

Oh, how sad.  It's not the first time we had to cut George's hair, but it's the most we've cut.  Poor baby.  I actually got a "is it a boy?" question a few weeks ago.  Plus, the chiropractor thought he was Jane a few months ago.  Poor kid, so pretty and has a momma who let his hair grow out.  Just looked like a little girl, sometimes.  Well, it was hanging over the ears, again, and he passed his 1 year birthday, so.....we buzzed him.

Here's before:

Yes, it was pretty pathetic when I realized we could put it in a hair band, like a little top-knot.

Here's after....he was so sad, mad and scared about the buzzers.  Poor guy.  And he turned his head at just the right time for me to give him an odd clip behind one ear.  But mostly, it's even.

So there he is.  Yes, I kept the hair.  It was so soft and wonderful, I couldn't just trash it all.  I wanted to remember how soft and pretty it was.  Now the hair does look lighter.  Poo.  I miss my dark haired baby.  Maybe it'll grow out dark again.  He's still a cutie.

The Heart Walk

On November 3, we attended the Heart walk for my Daddy-o, a great survivor of heart issues.  Lots of fun, even if we weren't in the best of shape for a walk.  Lots of great food and festivities afterwards.

What they do

Michael celebrates the music in everything.

Jane is a total mess.  George laughs at Jane.

You get to hear a "oot" from George.  Sort of his "out" word.

Decorating...cakes & pumpkins

More cake decorating videos plus pumpkin painting on All Saint's Day

Bonus Jane ABC singing in this one.

Halloween videos & baby George

Talking George, from I don't know when.

This is short but has Michael saying, "OK, Mom!" which is what he said all night while trick or treating.  Each time he returned to me from getting candy he'd say, "Ok, mom!"  or "Alright, Mom" then we'd head off to another house.

Gotta love this kid!

Today, during naptime, Michael sat on my bed with me. I'm making him stay with me if he's not going to stay in his room while Jane sleeps (if she does sleep). But the rules are he has to stay on the bed. He can't just wander around and try to watch movies.

The washing machine was running and started to get off balance in the spin cycle and klunk pretty loud. I looked at him with kind of a surprised "what is that" face. He looked at me and said, "Dragon."

Where did THAT come from!?!? So silly. I assured him it wasn't a dragon but just the washing machine. But still.... Dragon.

More baking help

Here are some pictures I took with the iPad from our baking fun.

Trick or Treating

We did a "trunk or treat" on Sunday.  Then mommy took the older two around the neighborhood last night, on Halloween.
